Groin/Hamstring Pain
I torched my legs this weekend with a 17 mile hike that had over 5000ft of elevation gain…..that is a lot of step ups! In addition to the elevation gain, the footing was rarely secure so there was a lot of lateral stepping and stabilization happening. Long-story short, my adductors (groin muscles) are sore. Specifically, my Adductor Magnus.
Adductor Magnus
This pesky muscle likes to stabilize your stride while walking, running, stair climbing, etc. But, it also likes to behave like a hamstring, giving power to all of those movements as well.
I am trying to get back on the trails within 48 hrs to prepare for my Rim-Rim-Rim hike (47 miles in 24 hrs) in early October. For such a quick turn around I am doing a release and stretch of the Adductor Magnus twice daily.
